Caldwell County Detention Center is a medium-level facility that houses offenders sentenced to serve time and those awaiting trial.
The facility also houses juvenile offenders awaiting transfer to other facilities throughout the state. They also hold those who have been released from custody but remain in the state’s control until they turn 18.

Management
A sheriff oversees all Caldwell County Detention Center operations while the Administrator facilitates the day-to-day operations. The sheriff is also responsible for hiring and training all deputies who work at the center. The correction officer has many responsibilities, including serving as a correctional officer, court bailiff, and emergency response team member.
Correction officers are responsible for the following:
- Transporting inmates to and from the court and medical appointments
- Maintaining order in the facility
- Correction officers also work with other agencies, such as police departments, courts, and hospitals, when necessary

Inmate Visitation
The inmate will be allowed one visit daily with family, religious or legal advisors, and friends. It is important to note that visitation is a privilege, not a right.
Family and friends should fill in an application form for them to be approved by the management. Visitation appointments are available Monday through Thursday from nine in the morning to three in the afternoon. Click here to print a visiting application.
Visitors must show photo identification to enter the facility and are subject to search by security personnel at any time during their visit. They must remain within the facility until they have completed their visit and the inmates have left the grounds.

Job Placement Program
The program helps inmates find jobs by equipping them with the required skills after serving their time.
GED
The GED program is a rigorous study program for adults who still need to complete high school. It is also intended for those who have failed the Basic Skills or Achievement Test. The course includes three levels of instruction: Basic Skills, Advanced Skills, and Achievement Tests.
