Caldwell County Civil War Reenactment... A Country, A County, Divided

GENERAL INFORMATION

Kingston Civil War Sites

Kingston and Caldwell County are dedicated to making “A Country, A County – Divided” successful for reenactors, vendors and spectators alike. We are dedicated (some might say consumed) to making this a premier event in Missouri. Here are some early photos of the area. You may click on these photos to see a closer view.

Click photos to enlarge. Both the 1861 Cornstalk Fight and the 1864 Thrailkill Raid will start in town, which will be transported into the 1860’s as much as possible.

Weather permitting, the Saturday night dance and BBQ will be on the street by torchlight.

And yes, the Confederates will raid the courthouse on the right and burn (actually smoke pots on top) the buildings on the left.

As the public walks or is transported along this road, vendors will be required to be more “period” the closer they are to the camp. The “period” zone will start at the top of the hill.

Click photos to enlarge. The Cornstalk Fight is behind the pond and up the rise. It is ideally suited for spectators. The pond is available for your horses as is another in the trees. The camps will be situated against the trees. The woods are also available for sleeping up against a tree.

Sutlers will be located in front of the pond area. There are no generators - utility drops are available as well as water hydrants.

There are very few contemporary obstacles that will foul your photography with "today."

Click photos to enlarge. This is a view looking southwest at the acreage set aside for the Thailkill Raid battle.

The hills and dividing swale are ideal for opposing cannons and it is wonderfully shaped for spectators to the left (not on the shot).

We will also be prepared for handicapped parking.
